Analyze the ways in which the First World War was fought.

When World War One was in the Western front a new kind of war was created called the Trench Warfare because of the new war military technology had to be used. Later on Propaganda was used in any war by all sides which served different purposes and then the Total war which used all the resources from different countries. These were the three ways which the First World War was fought.

Military technology was created during World War One The first creation was the machine gun, it was first used in the American Civil War and after the Americans used it other countries started to create it. These weapon fired over 600 bullets in one minute they were very effective that's why in those days they were naming it ‘The weapon of mass destruction’. Germans had also a machine gun that was created by fabric and metal belt, with these system they made their gun more effective and very automatic weapon. Another king of machine gun was the Vickers Gun it was really heavy , it was water cooled and the soldiers were putting a jacket of theirs around the barrel which was holding up to one gallon. It was made from a 250 fabric bell and a rubber hose that led to a container and that created steam that came out of the jacket that they had put there for that had minimised water wastage. It was able to fire 450 rounds per minute but after 10.000 rounds it got destroyed so they needed to replace it with another machine gun.

Another invention that was created in World War One was Tanks. The tanks first they were developed by the British in 1916. They weren't so good because soldiers were getting sick because of the machines and the fumes. The tanks soon became unreliable because other new weapons were created. The Germans created the Grenades which in another words these is called a bomb. These weapon is still used today and also it works the same way, soldiers pull out the pin and then they through it into the battlefield. After these weapon the Gas was created, it was the German’s secret they had three different gasses the Lachrymator ,the Asphyxiant and the Chlorine has. The Lachrymator causes temporary blindness, it inflame the nose and the throat, the Asphyxiant it damaged the lungs and the eyes and the Chlorine gas it destroyed the organs that the soldier had like nose breathing, lungs it also caused death. There was a mustard has too it was the most dreaded weapons that was used in World War one , it destroyed the respiratory system,eyes, lungs and armpits.
In World War One the Combat weapon was used a lot also, it was really helpful for them because it did not make any noise these allowed the other soldiers not to be aware of the enemy that was coming, these weapon was usually called a close combat. After the introduction of these weapon another Combat was created called the Aerial Combat, these allowed them to fly above the enemy line and they could determine their movements , bombs could be through and these caused as much damage. In now days we have the fighter planes which is the same thing. They invented also the naval combat again made by the British in 1906 these helped them to keep the soldiers supplies inside such as food and equipment these helped the British because it protected the merchants but also it help to prevent supplies from reaching Germany.So these were in overall the weapons that World War One used to fight during a battle.

Not only weapons were used as a way of to fight but they are many other ways that I haven't mention yet. Another Way World World War was fought it was Propaganda. Propaganda attends in any war, we see propaganda anywhere, but in World War One Propaganda was used a lot. The affected a lot of people actions, the way that they reacted, it attracted people but at the same time made them to fight. Propaganda is used in all wars and all sides. During that time the governments used Propaganda a lot, they wanted to show their involvements to the people. Technology was not so up dated right now, they did not had any televisions, but also not every home had radios so propaganda became known bu publishing it on posters that they were hanged on the streets in pubs and bars even newspapers was another way of publishing. The Newspapers were full of government propaganda, they were publishing different headlines and stories about the other side .Looking at their propaganda that they used from the Internet, they look very emotional because of the worlds, and the strong sentences but also the sketches that they created on them the sketches sometimes were faces of people or sketches of what message they want to transfer to the people. In order for them to create propaganda it means that their goal was to serve some purpose. Maybe they wanted to attract more men to serve their country both sides needed more men so maybe that's one reason, the other reason they might wanted to encourage victory like saying ‘support us’ ‘Support your Man’ they also wanted woman so they can support the soldiers, women will stand as a nurse helping them but also replacing the jobs of a man , working i factories and camps. Another purpose was used for people that were against the war these was called Tactics. Showing different opinions about how evil the British were and the Germans it made the people react.

Another invasion that caused World War One to go to war was the Total war. The Total war was really a problem because it was collecting all resources from different countries. People now think that World War one can be consider as a Total war. Population in armies had grown a lot even citizens were attending. Total war in another words its when ‘the population and different resources are mobilized toward the war effort’ its like its against the military. Some examples are: During that time women had to take the jobs of men in factories , different heavy jobs, the Germans u-boats attacked and sank the civilian merchant shipping, The Belgium city of Louvain was deliberately sacked by the German army in August 1914 also the economy was adopted in Britain Germany and France, the weapons, other war materials were manufacture. These are the three ways that I find important of how World War one was fought.

For me they played a big role in the war they are big topics that they continue over and over again. For example weapons until now are keep developing but World War One will never be forgotten because the roots of weapons were created there, the models, the ideas that people in those days created them we now still use them but in a more up to date technology.

What was the most important cause for the outbreak of war in 1914?

World War one is the most important event that occured in 1914 that stayed memorable to a lot of people and impact their lives. Historians procalim that the war occured due to the four causes. Imperialism, nationalism, militarism and Alliances. People have different point of views, different opiniions of what led the outbreak of the war. In my mind militarism and alliances were positive causes of World War One but imperialism is the most significant.

Throughout Europe even in now days countries make agreements between them these pulls them into battle these is called Alliances. If a country was attacked and these country that was attacked had some agreement with another country then the allied countries will defend them. Alliances was a strong cause of WWI because of this events the Triple Alliance(1882), the Dual Alliance(1879), the Austria-Serbian Alliance(1881) , the Triple Entente(1914), Triple Entente(1907) the Anglo Russian Entente (1907) the Entente Cordiale (1904) and the Franco Russian Alliance (1894). The events that I will mention now are event that occurred before World War One they were some alliances between Russia and Serbia, Germany and Austria Hungary, France and Russia, Britain and France and Belgium and Japan with Britain. The story of these alliances during World War one was: Austria Hungary defeated Serbia, and because Russia had an alliance between Serbia, Russia defend Serbia. Later on Germany found out that Russia was making some secret movements so Germany declared war on Russia, after that France was against Germany and Austria Hungary. Germany defeated France involving Belgium which these caused the Britain to occur in the war. Japan, United Stades and Italy entered the war. We can see that Alliance was an important cause of WWI. Throughout these events we can see the outcome of the aggrements that had been made, the history before WWI between countries and how each country that had agreements between them helped each other during the war. We can see that alliances had an affect on imperialism but as well imperialism had an affect on Alliances. Alliance helped strong and not strong countries to become stronger. But this is also Imperialistic because these helps a strong country to have an agreement between another strong country, so they can work together.

Militarism is the army and military forces these is also a strong cause of WWI due to The Compention between Britain and Germany over the naval powers due to the plan between France and Germany. Some other Events which could support these event is the Draughtboard the German Naval, the Von Shiefflen Plan, the Crimean War and the Franco Prussian War. During World War One Germany was had the greatest military, so Great Britain and Germany had increased their navies. Germany's and Russia's militarism was very indluenced in policy that time and because of that these pushed the countries to attend in to the war.
Both France and Germany had very big armies But Britain and Germany fierce about their army. During that time British had introduced the Dreadnaught which was a battleship in 1906. After that the Germans had introdused their own battleships. Between Germany and Von Schilieffen their was a plan which was to attacked France through Belgium, but that was depended on weather Rusia will attack Germany. All these events go in one, Militarism is part of Impirialism because throught the preperation before the war countries were working together, first they had to conquer lands, other countries in order to pass to go to the country that they want.


I consider Impirialism as the most significant event in WWI. Impirialism is when a country takes over new lands or countries. In my mind these is the most significant cause that led to the outcome of World War One. Some of the events that led to the outcome of WWI are: when Germany supports independence of Morocco, The first and the Second Boer Wars wich occur in 1880 to 1899 and the Bosnian Crisis in 1908. I find these events very important, these events but a lot of others that I did not menttion. Impirialism hides a lot of history behind it during that time. Great Britain , Germany and France they had the need of having markets after the increase of manufactoring and these was led by the Industrial Revolution. Also these countries let a lot of economic problems in Africa. During that time in Africa Britain and France had disolved their problems, the same time crises were starting between Germany against Britain and France in the North Africa and in the Middle East the Ottoman Empire caused attention to Austia Hungary, the Balkans and Russia. We can see that inside imperialism their is alliances and militarism each event has these causes. But I consider Imperialism as the most significant.

Alliances , militarism and imperialism are the main causes which let to the outbreak of WWI. But in my mind Imperialism is the most significant. We can see that each cause had different events, but these events were part of imperialism. Because of how the events had occured we can see that Impiirialism affected appon Alliances and on Militarism. Even though I havent mentioned all the events almost all of the events are impirialistic, we can see that countries were taking lands , they were conquering other countries which these led many countries to fight each other, which these led the outbreak of WWI.
